Professor. Book Lover. Foster Mom. Raising humans, shaping minds, hoarding mugs.
Hello!
I’m Katie Fields, a visiting professor, foster mom, and trauma-responsive education advocate. Those who know me know I’m a little obsessed with my pittie princess, Noelle. She keeps watch over our house full of kids (the number changes), animals (also fluctuating), and enough mugs to open a small café.
If you’re here, chances are you care about kids, classrooms, or coffee. Maybe all three. You’re in good company.
I teach in-service and future teachers, specialize in trauma-responsive practices (yes, that’s different from trauma-informed or trauma-sensitive), and occasionally fall down book or research rabbit holes so deep I forget what day it is.
When I’m not teaching or writing, you’ll probably find me reading romantasy, talking about legislation that impacts classrooms, or shouting answers at a game show.
Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

🎓 Educator
I teach in-service and future teachers at the University of Central Oklahoma, mostly folks earning certification through alternative routes. I love helping them connect theory to real-life classrooms.
✍️ Writer
From peer-reviewed articles to presentations and now a book. Writing is how I process, advocate, and dream out loud.
💪 Advocate
I believe the best decisions for kids happen when educators have a seat at the table. I work with legislators, schools, and communities to make that happen.
